Using Bluetooth audio in the helmet can increase enjoyment of riding especially on long jouries as well as provide useful information such as directions from the sat nav.
Set Up
- Sena SMH10 headset
- Tork X2 Pro helmet speakers (good whilst wind noise not too high)
- Shure SE215 earphones (excellent sound and noise isolation)
- Garmin Zumo 660 GPS
- Sony Xperia Z2 smart phone
- Midland G8e BT PMR Radio (long range communications)
Observation: When WiFi is enabled on my phone, I find it interrupts/ interferes with, Bluetooth audio. Turning off WiFi on my phone before setting off ensure I get the best audio quality my equipment can provide.
Observation: Make sure distance between Bluetooth device and headset is as short as possible and unrestricted (for example don't have an MP3 player streaming Bluetooth music from under your seat)
Choice of speakers or ear buds
Speakers are great for quickly getting on your bike and doing a short trip using sat nav directions and listening to music. And Tork X2 provide very good sound.
However a good set of sound isolating earbuds give brilliant sound quality and volume and get rid of ear damaging wind noise when doing long journeys and making progress. The one downside might be having to put them in and take them out - not such a big problem. I use Shure SE215. Recommended.
